Visiting the Farm? Here’s Some Things You Should Know.

Northfield.jpg

There are many different occasions when people come out to the farm. Our CSA members that signed up for on-farm pick-up are here every Thursday. Our annual Seedling Sale customers come out to pick up their plants in spring. Maybe you’re participating in an event, workshop, or another gathering.

There are few things we relish more than connecting people with the land where they live. However, to do this smoothly, there are a few guidelines to consider:

  1. As a working farm, we cannot welcome pets. We have livestock that we are responsible for, as well as a livestock guardian dog. While he is extremely docile and kind to all humans, we cannot guarantee that he will not take the presence of another dog to be a threat.

2. While we encourage folks to visit the livestock, please do not feed them or try to touch them. They prefer to have their space, and we guarantee their nutritional needs are well met!

3. We require everyone to wear shoes for their safety. Thistles, ground bees, farm gear, sharp rocks. The list of potential hazards goes on and on. Keeping everyone safe and healthy is a top priority.

4. The tractor and other equipment are powerful tools, not toys; please refrain from climbing on them.

5. We have many systems in place such as mulch, bed covers, irrigation and greenhouse protocol. We ask that guests practice patience and ask questions to satiate their curiosity instead of tampering with our systems.

6. When visiting with children, please ensure that they are aware of these guidelines.

Thank you so much for considering these guidelines and we hope you enjoy your time at the farm!
