VARIETY:
"Australe". Gorgeous mid-sized butterhead with bright green leaves tinged with bronze. Compact heads with soft leaves like a butterhead but faintly more upright-romaine in habit; strong disease resistance. Had excellent performance in our fall lettuce trials, but produces the nicest heads in spring. Spring/fall planting. Upright habit. Sold in packs of 3.
CULTURE:
Lettuce is hardy and can be planted as early as the soil can be worked. It is a cool-weather crop and grows best at temperatures of 60–65°F (15.5–18.3°C). Grows best in well-drained, sandy loam soil. Perfect for raised beds!
